  Old  What to charge...

I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this...

I have a client that needs a logo, business card, and tri-fold brochure recreated and some of the copy changed. The files will be all done in Illustrator and delivered as PDF and .ai files.

My question is: what is reasonable amount to charge for a recreation job? I've never done one before. Would this be better as an hourly rate or a flat fee?

Any help would be great thanks.

Peace,
Aaron

I would break everything up into hourly. Looks better on paper.

Okay. That sounds good. What's a good rate? $100/hr? I don't even really know what's standard.

if you don't have experience, you're not worth $100/hour.

I've done logo designs and web design before, so I'm not saying I don't have experience. What I am saying is I've never done a "re-creation" before. Should I charge a lower rate because the design was already done and I just have to re-do it? Or should I just charge like I would if I was coming up with the design on my own and handing them something brand new?

Edit: I guess if I'm going to charge hourly, it doesn't matter what type of work it is. Right? Or am I way off here?

I think a recreation would be less work than an original, but 100/hour seems a bit extreme, maybe estimate a total cost then divide it by how much time you think you'll spend

I figured it was extreme but, I just threw out a number. I finally settled on a rate that seems to fit the job and time it will take just fine.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I appreciate it.

Peace,
Aaron

I asume you allready have an hourly rate for you other jobs? Why not apply that rate?
