Considering buying a laptop

Hello ya'll!

I'm thinking of buying a laptop! It would be used for my college work and should be able to run multiple programs - Photoshop, web browser, text editor, fireworks - without slowing up too much. I would be willing to spend £500. I had a look at this one and it seems pretty good!

I was wondering if you guys recommend any other? Or have seen a good buy else where?

To be honest, that is kinda expensive for the specs. I bought a laptop recently for the same reasons, and picked it up for £330 including P+P with the following main specs:

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 1.77 GHz
• 2GB RAM DDR2
• 160GB Hard Drive
• Windows Vista Home Premium

If you're looking to run more than one memory-sucking program at once, that is a good laptop to buy, but I suggest you do a little more searching for a cheaper one (try eBay).

Also, kinda unsure about the Turion x2 processor, I'd go with Intel, but that's personal choice.

Save more and buy a macbook pro. That is what I am doing.

I would like a Mac, but I don't think I want to spend that much. They're over £1000

Are you not a student Steven? Or do you know anybody who is? Apple give good discount to students.

Yes, I'm a student. I didn't know they did a discount for students, that's pretty cool. I'll see if I can find out what the %age is. Thanks!

I just got a dell for pretty cheap ($350 USD) for some special they were having. Works for all my design needs. Can run photoshop, illustrator, and a bunch of firefox tabs (like usual).

So if you're trying to be cheap, i'd get a new dell laptop- its not the best but you should be fine for a couple years.

Also, i'm trying to save for a macbook pro as well. Hopefully this will last until then.

I picked it up participating in an eBay auction when I knew hardly any one else would, and put a bid in within the last 5 seconds and snatched it.

there you go, that's what you would need. Could possibly get something cheaper, but go with ebuyer my friend, play.com is worst for postage full stop.
