Oh My!
So I just got back from Comp USA. I checked out the iMac 24 inch and wow, was I impressed. Mostly with the screen though. It was gorgeous, and the size was monstrous. I really liked how clean everything was as well. I've got a few questions for the hardcore Mac guys though, so here we go.
Gaming: I read a review that places the iMac at around 80-90 frames per second on 1024x768 on Doom 3. Overall, does this sound pretty respectable? Is the supplied 7300gt graphics card any good, or is it imperative that I upgrade? Right now, I love playing older games like Diablo 2 and Counter Strike CZ & 1.6. I'm sure the base model will be adequate for those games, but what about future releases?
Memory: Is 1GB adequate for a Mac? Or is it recommended to upgrade? Not really sure if I should go for the 2GB upgrade, but no way in hell am I going to pay $500 for 3GB of ram.
Financing: Can anybody summarize how the Apple Financing plan works, or does anybody have a link that explains it in plain English rather than the Apple.com store? I'd really appreciate it.
If you haven't looked at the 24 inch iMac in person, I highly recommend it. Its a gorgeous computer.

Not completely, most chains are. The one here in Arizona already closed down a couple of weeks ago.

Ok
DO NOT BUY IT THIS WEEK
Apple will most likely bring a new iMac out on Monday so theres no point in buying the old one. Theres not really any point in getting the RAM upgrade, just buy some aftermarket ones for a lower price.
Also with the finance i'm pretty sure you need to be 18 to be allowed to buy a computer.

Hello,
As previously mentioned do not buy this week, wait and see what the WWDC '07 brings. 2GB of RAM is what I really recommend however DO NOT buy from Apple, get the smallest amount you can in it and buy mac compatible RAM from a place like http://www.newegg.com.
The problem with Mac's and gaming is that most games are not compatible with the Mac OSX platform, it isn't that they can't handle them. As long as your games are compatible with Mac OSX I'd see no problem with Mac being able to run them.
Well done on making the right choice .

This is not completely true about games. The selection of Mac compatible games is actually getting huge - I play games like Call of Duty 2, Halo, and Starcraft on my Macbook. Plus, if you want to play games that aren't compatible with Macs, you can install Boot Camp (it's really easy) and just play Windows games on it. I have done this on my Macbook and played Flight Simulator 2004 - it actually runs better than it does on my sister's Dell desktop computer! You have to consider that if you're thinking of gaming - installing Windows XP is insanely easy.
And, as emphasized before - DON'T BUY IT NOW!
