I don't mean to advertise my site, but usually I think advertising on small sites means more of their members will join, big sites will have many banners rotating whilst mine has none. Also since your forum is bigger than mine members will drive in.

Gatt, if you didn't mean to advertise, then there's no need to advertise .
Feel free to post in other offers and requests with your advertisement offerings. But we're discussing the methods of marketing here.

Are you saying I should post ads to smaller sites rather than bigger ones?

I would suggest to submit your links also to other forums.
It quite effective as long as there are a lot of active members and your links would not against the forum rules.

I am really keen to make Style:Reboot a popular place, so I would like to do it in the right way.
I have a design forum too. I will help you if you help me. Register and start posting on mine. I'm registering on yours right now.

I might just do that

right checklist so far:

stylish design (by me) :P
advertising on talkfreelance
advertising on clantemplates
small competition on website
free vbulletin skin download

Still not getting as much activity as I first hoped for though, anyone have any other suggestions?

I want some unique way to advertise and get the website known, but I can't think of anything right now.
