I believe Julian said he was removing the Christmas smilies and restoring the header this weekend (as the holiday season is now officially over) so I wouldn't be surprised to see everything gone either later tonight when Julian comes online or tomorrow

How about a totally new one? Rather than a whole new skin that quite a few people suggested, at least this would bring something fresh to the site and not go back to the same old.

It's the middle of a hot summer here, a summer banner would be nice 
The problem with seasonal banners is we cater to an international member base. I didn't like the banner we had up for the last few weeks because it's summer here, but it won the competition fair and square
