I was going to make the footer the same colour as the navigation bar however I thought it might make the content area too light. What do you think?

Though I like it, there's something about it that I just can't seem to love.
The quality of the layout is great, obviously, and the execution is perfect. But the structure and the layout itself just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe it is because the entire layout is pretty repetitive - you incorporate one theme, rectangles, and re use it throughout. There is no alteration, no flow or transition, and it just makes it difficult for me to like.
It's...boring. Not that you did a bad job, it's just nothing that I would fall in love with, or nothing that strikes me as fancy.

Thanks Bryan, you have made some fair points. However, it wasn't really designed with the intention to be fancy, after all it is a simple CSS portfolio as the title states.

The main navigation is iffy, it seems so simple while everything else is in squares etc. I would put dividers and make them more like buttons, and take off the underline, then do the same to footer. I like everything else though, good job

The only thing I do not care for would be the footer. Everything else is excellent. Great job.

Looks great! Saw this on my uploader ftp and really enjoyed the style of it. Simple yet plenty of room to show off your coding and bring in clients for me everything in this design was done right.
great work!
