web layout
this is the web tamplate i'm currently workin on for myself. i was aiming for a functional reasonably fast loading set up, but wtill with some graphically interesting spots.
// web layout
*note: i won't be making the border down the side that large, it was from an old idea i've been too lazy to reduce in the psd. they'll be 2px-3px max when i code it.
also, i was runnning out of ideas for a footer.

the footer does definetly need some work...
also the vectorthis text and logo should be a brighter color and stand out a tad more.
and the left column headers (spotlight) should be more interesting, some type of gradient or something.
overall though it looks clean so far. just finish it up a bit.

Ok lets see here....
I really like the design of the site and the navigation used. The colours seem dull to me and don't grab my attention at all. If i were you, i would consider a different colour scheme altogether.
The header of the website has obviously had alot of work whilst the footer has been neglected and this shows. I like the slogan you use. The top curve really needs to be sorted out....appears quite jagged to me, infact i have issues with that curve and the gradient bar (looks like it's direct from a tutorial). I can't make out what the background image is in the header...i would think skyscrapers, business people, digital media etc would be more suited though.
I have no problems with the left side, are you going to just use that for portfolio examples? I think you could utilise the bottom part of it for a form and a "free quote" facility or something....
The right hand side is straight forward and professional, the "welcome" text/font has to go...is aa on? Seems really jagged to me. I like the headlines, that works well.
Overall the website is looking good, finish it up and show us again and maybe we can help some more! I just think it needs a lick of paint to brighten it up! Good job however, i'm just giving you the feedback you requested.

EDIT:
i did some more work on the header bar redoing the highlighting. the footer has been changed (the website is now 100% in xhtml ) and i took some stuff out of the header to make it seem brighter to contrast a bit more.
about some of the thigns you pointed out though, it's mean to be as functional as possible, so everything below the menu (except the grey side panel) is all code generated. the headings, their styling (even project spotlight). so no, AA is not on. the site is all going to be dynamically powered, so it's going to print out bdy depending on what section is being viewed.
i'm still debating whether to use the professional like welcome blurb, or use the home page for a more splash like look. if i use the more graphically intense, i'll probably take the heading "Welcome" out.

thanks, but after i made up the new body, i actually hated it, so i took it back to square one, and redevloped the concept.
this one, i actually like, and it adds some more colours to the body, and it doesn't look so blurred. of course the content isn't final, i'm going to completely re-write everything when i start developing it in a couple days. some of the spacing is too extreme as well IE the gap between the text and the nes update, also to be cleared up when it's developed.
