Where does your Company Name Come From?
Hey guys,
I was just in the gallery and was checkin out blip's company logo. I noticed his 'company' name was pretty unique and interesting which lead me to wonder if it has a story behind why it was chosen. Does anyone have a significant story behind why they chose their business name? Or did you just create it because it sounded good ?
Personally i was in math class about 2 years ago and i was doing an assignment and it said "1. - Factor", the teachers handwriting looked like it said "i-factor" and i thought that sounded cool so i slapped on "studios" and ive had this name ever since. Kind of a boring story but iam sure theres got to be something cool out there.
Hit this thread up!
BTW. this is my 200th post so be happy for me guys! :P *Joking*

Hehe, thanks . Ill post my reply in here too .
Here is how it starts :
Ok, so I dont know if you all know what Flight Simulator is, but basically it is extremely realistic flight simulation / game. There are things known as Virtual Airlines, and I made one, Freedom Pacific Virtual. I bought the domain for 3 years, and ended up closing because of lack of time, etc.. Anyways, I have it for 2 more years, but will now keep it for my "company" name

my teacher butchered the art of digital creation with his first 2 assignments last semester:
digital painting- very first assignment of the year (year 1). already a bad start
- 60% of the people have never used photoshop (they never came back this semester)
- the lessiosn prior to the assignment went something like this:
- this is photoshop.
- these are the basic tools: *marquee tool, *move tool, *magic wand, *brush
- this is a layer
- do photo realistic digital painting of this ps7 sample bear image in 1 week using only 3 layers. 20% of final mark
^way2go.
photo realstic illustration - totally butchered- first assignment after 'introducin' illustrator (same day)
- 90% of the people have never used illustrator (or the pen tool before).
- *bans use of gradients, gradient mesh and other effects like shadows and such.
- REQUIRES the image first be taken into photoshop posterized at a high level then imported intol illustrator then to trace the mops of colour with the pencil tool.
^anyone who has ever done illustration is now contemplating killing themselves.
being extremely pissed off with his lack of doing anything i got the idea to create two websites called paintmybear.com and vectorthis.com to rant about the terrible quality of this college program and do all i can to either destroy it or fix it. being a procrastinator i stole vectorthis.com for my company name since i like vector art the most and use the pen tool a lot.
*unfortunately the course has only gotten worse, and it's gotten to the point where i'm going to begin writing formal complaints to the registrar instead.

Back in the dark-ages when I used to do print design, and after my fulltime position 'expired', I started freelancing and called myself Capital Design, because I was based in the capital, London. Nothing really come of it and I dropped out of the design world for a while.
Couple of years later I was commissioned for some low-budget stuff and wanted a name for my invoices so I ressurected Capital Design as Capital2.
Again nothing really came of it and again I dropped out of the design world.
A while after that I started getting into music production and decided to ressurect the name again, this time as C2.
When I started designing for the Web, an agency I was freelancing for asked me if I could get something done and I said sure, I'll get it seen to. From this C2 became Seen2.
Not long after that I had to decide on a domain name for myself. Seen.com was available, (and like a muppet I didn't buy it), as of course was Seen2.com, neither of which I particularly liked. C2 was gone or I'd probably have stuck with that. Then I came across the .to extension and discovered seen.to was available, so I snapped it up and have stuck with it for about 8 years now.
Get IT right the first time - Get it www.seen.to

I had been running a small web design business called Powell Interactive for a few years. When I decided to go into web hosting I decided to call it PI Hosting, only to find out there was another company by that name, so I settled with PiWeb Hosting, a spin off from the original name.

Very interesting Seen.to . You've been active on the net much longer than me and i take it more than alot of people here. *dosnt mean that in an offensive way* i wish i was around when seen.com wasnt registered. Id buy it and sell it 2morrow for a bajillion dollers.
