  Old  Scottish Web Developers Wanted

I've recently been interested in getting a job as a full time frontend web designer in my area of Scotland (around about Aberdeen). However where ever I apply they don't seem to understand my personal abilities when it comes to websites. I clearly state in my CV and in person that I only work in xHTML and CSS using graphic communication software such as Photoshop. Yet when I get my first project to be completed within two weeks or so it has "CRM" or "CMS" in the project plan. Every employer has expected me to do these and when I explain to them I can't I get a funny look as if I'm in the wrong.

So I've decided to launch my own small company working in web design for my local area first of all to get me started. As recently more and more local business' have started to see the benefit of a presence online.

However due to the fact I'm only a frontend designer I'm wondering if there are any people experienced in backend development (PHP | mySQL) in the North of Scotland who would be interested teaming up. The area would include places from around about Inverness to Aberdeen as I am currently smack bang in the middle of the two. The plan would be to split the work and planning 50/50 which means we both get a fair share as well as a fair share of payment.

Why I'm wanting the person to be in the same area to me is so if we need to we can get together for meetings with each other or clients. This makes it a lot easier to discuss and plan from experience rather than doing it via the web.

I understand your situation perfectly - I get annoyed by people who go "Aaah, you specialise in X!", then three days later come along with "I want you to do Y"

I might not be exactly what you're looking for (I'm based in Edinburgh) but I am proficient in PHP and MySQL, and have worked with many different CMS systems, even building a basic one from scratch.

If you do need more remote assistance at any point, or if you have any projects you'd want to outsource, feel free to get in touch (I'm perfectly happy to discuss things over the phone too) but I understand that you are looking for a more local presence

If this forum allows me to post a link, my website is at solarisedesign.co.uk
