  Old  PHP plotting on map

Evenin,

Was just wondering if anyone knew how i could go about producing a falling rain map with various waypoints etc.

Rather like this --> http://www.euroutepro.com/fp/fp_main...7cc53 631d5ea

Notice the map to the right hand side corresponds to the "route" the aircraft will fly.

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards,
Alex

sorry,

if you go to http://www.vatsim-uk.org/open/index.php?source=routes and then the two boxes and the bottom, in the first one type EGBB in the second type LOWI and then click details on the first result it gives you, it should work.

Regards,
Alex

Plotting on maps or any other graphic is essentially pretty simple. All you're doing is drawing a bunch of lines at specific co-ordinates with perhaps some squares and text (like on the example given) over a base image (the map). This is perfectly possible, and relatively simple, with either of PHP's most-used imaging approaches: imagemagick or GD.

What exactly are you looking for help on: the very basics of drawing on images, or map-specific problems?

Well to be honest, i've never done it before and therefore have no idea where to start.

So probably actually getting the lines and squares drawn on the map is where i need the majority of help at the moment.

Let me just give you a bit more information about the overall object im trying to achieve. I want to create a system for my Virtual Airline that displays a route on that base map as shown above. I am not aware of your aviation knowledge, but planes pass over waypoints in flight, and it is those i want to plot on the map.

Regards,
