say for a login control it might take a php coder 10 - 20 minutes. it takes my 10 seconds. because everything is already there for you.

I know some asp.net (2.0 c#), its is really different, it takes longer. The only way you can do it that fast is to use a wysiwyg, which is really bad code.

Aside from your flippant remark about 'bad' code, which I feel was just put in there as an aside, I'd like to say something. My professional work is with C#, it needn't take any longer than a comparable PHP application. Using the ASP.NET Framework is often, for me at least, much quicker and easier than putting something together in PHP for anything more than a quick script but that's probably more due to the use of a framework over scripting things from scratch rather than PHP vs C#. Is here really the place to be having this discussion anyway?

My quote would be around $4000 with the design.

I dont see how you can quote $750 for this!

P.S to OP i'd recommend something similar to www.moodle.org as a free option for you.
Like i said, all thats done is about 10 - 120 seconds in asp.net

including sessions, application start/end, db updating (last login stamp), site wide secure sessions, secure registering, validation and welcome emails, custom profiles*, validation (both client side (js) and server side).

Thats why my quote was low to you guys.

*custom profiles can take longer.

and village idiot, I've been programming for a while now. I am also coming from PHP and thats why I made the conclusion about asp.net being very different then php.

edit: I am only 19 years old, so I still have to learn the marketplace out there. And from this experience I know what to do for the future

Hi, I'd quote $4000 for a bespoke system. Created using Dotnet 2.0 and SQLserver 2005. My last full time role was as systems architect and developed their flag ship product (A cms framework for repeated usage).

I have worked on sites (all content managed) for clients such as BMW, Heinz (and tinytums) to name a few.

Email me to arrange an online meeting to discuss your needs further.

Thanks
Mark.

All code and modules will be created freshly for this project and I use MS recommended development guidelines. I will include both a MSSql DAL And mysql DAL (back end database) which you can easily change between in the webconfig depending on your hosting options.

I will include a 2month service level agreement for changes and minor tweaks.
