Ubuntu Thread
Anyone update to Ubuntu 7.10 Yesterday?
I got it up and working on my laptop, a few things a LOVE. and Few things i HATE.
Probably the worse thing I encountered(And if i knew this, I probably wouldnt have installed it in the first place) was that most Dell printers dont quite work with ubuntu yet.
The only one's that do, need LEXMARK Drivers, since dell printers dont support unbuntu/linux yet.

I have tried it before, but it never supported my wireless card, but if you say the drivers are pretty good for this version, then I might try it out!

I like Ubuntu, but there's just too much messing around when things don't work, like my Belkin wireless USB adapter for example.

Yeah, I think that if your going to get ubuntu you must have an alternative computer that runs either windows or mac. Ubuntu doesnt allow you to stretch much futher than internet, email, instant messaging and music / video. You should check compatibility for any devices you want to add to your computer before getting it such as wireless adapters, printers, scanners, webcams etc.
One of the best things has to be the amount of speed that I have found using it, with xp which I had previosuly it was so slow but with ubuntu it just feels like a completely different pc.

I have it on my secondary computer, but my wireless card won't work, so I will probably end up putting windows back on it.

I have been using Ubuntu for a few months, I think it's great for a free OS and have had no problems with wireless etc.

I live UBUNTU but only bad thing about it, it's compatibility issue with my dialup modem. It works very well with my Wi-Fi though.
