Hope I don't kill you, but here comes my critique.
You have chosen an alright layout, but a very common one. I'll start of with colors.
The Green does go very well with the dark Grey. The Beige doesn't fit with any of them.
I believe the logo looks good, just don't like that you put a stroke on it.
I think you should work on colors, detail and the gloss.
Glossy is just good when it's done perfectly. Here it isn't.

Well, you can look at all the buttons on this forum as an example. (post reply, quote etc.)
They look really simple, but there's is detail and depth to them, not one layer of white put in
layer-mode: soft light.
If you look at eg. template-monster.
You'll find many layouts that has a glossy look.
I think it's really nice, but I agree with Eirik, the stroke on the soccer player is unnecessary, and takes away from the overall feel. In fact, the stroke on the text in the header takes away from the design as well. Try it without and post it here so we can take a look at it.
YES! That looks 100x better without the stroke. If I could do one more thing, I would eliminate the drop shadow, or at least lower the opacity until it's just a hint of a shadow.
Great job on it! I agree with Eirik in that the beige doesn't seem to fit in very well however the grey and green look great together. The only other thing is that the soccer ball lock/new post/etc. icon seems a bit large in comparison to the other things (in the forum listing) and a bit too small in the post reply button and the header (just the text part) could be improved on a bit in my opinion.
