Daan is on a distinguished road

  Old  2 Pieces [Unfinished]

Hello there,

I'm currently busy with 2 pieces, they are not done yet but I'll tell what.

Design #1
Little Update

Not done yet: Mainly the areas where the text is, and the typography in it.
Give me advice what to put there please.
I'm not sure about the arrows either..

Design #2

Little Update

Give me advice how to improve this please.

Cheers

I don't really like either, Sorry mate.. i think on the first one, giving a 3px stroke to the arrows, borders, etc is a bad idea. I only use 3px stroke with extremely low opacity. I also think there's too much contrast between the black background and white content boxes, and that the content boxes need some work. Also maybe you could think of using some custom fonts, etc. Also, although the pattern in the background is nice, you havent used it properly imo, and honestly I think it doesnt make the bit with the arrows and boxes on it stand out enough. Maybe you could lower the opacity on the pattern background or make it darker.

The second one also needs some work. The gray youre using for the menus is too bland and you should probably go for something darker or lighter. Also, again, try experimenting with typography, and get some new fonts. I can't really think of anything else to say on the second one :P

Anyway, keep trying

Thanks mate, very appreciated.
I know I'm not a star typography-like, and I agree on the content boxes in the first one, that's what I pointed out in my first post, any suggestions how to improve that bit?

Hmm, I'm not sure, you could do rounded rectangles instead, and then change the color a bit so that it doesnt contrast as much with the black background. Also I wouldnt use plain black for backgrounds, I'd tend to use for instance very dark blue, or very dark green, etc. Hope this helps..

How's this:

Update

I changed the background color, made 3/4 rounded corners at the content things and changed their colors. I'll work on the typography

Edit: I also did a little change on the other design

the content areas are a bit better now.. i don't really think this idea is working though.. maybe you should go back to the drawing board try something different, or maybe you could find inspiration on the internet and improve from that.

You might want to change the fonts. They are pretty dull. Also the blue backing behind "welcome to my portfolio" is not helping. However the pattern in the background is cool. Keep on working and you'll get it.

Cheers
