The ads at the top are too large and occupy the prime real estate on your page. You could have used that space to provide valuable information to your members, so that they are motivated to come back.

Village Genius will become famous soon enough

The template is nearly identical to the default theme, I hope you didn't pay much for it. Once I turned adblock off I saw the ads and they are far too big, I wouldn't whitelist the site due to that alone (I whitelist sites I want to support).

Off of the design it looks like a generic business forum; not unlike countless others. The forum isnt very active and what activity there is really isnt that great (a common side effect of hiring paid posters). The articles aren't very in depth or original and are very poorly written. The few I read looked like they had been written by someone who speaks English as a second language and is trying to sound sophisticated. The first thing I thought when I read those was "Wow, he hired the cheapest writing service he could find and didn't even read the content before posting it." That's not the type of quality that brings anyone in, in fact it chases people away.

If you want to separate yourself from the countless other forums out there you are going to need to put good money into advertising and writers to write original content that will draw users in.
