  Old  Processor speed

I was going to buy my pc and i want an intel processor. I was wondering would intel core 2 duo at like 2.0 ghz be faster and more efficient than a simpler and older version of intel at 2.8 ghz. Becouse the other digits when comparing look larger in core 2 procesor speed even tho the ghz are higher in the older intel

Yeah, clock speeds dont matter much. I have an Athlon X2 3800+ running at 2.1 ghz and it can easily beat a Pentium 4 at 3.6 Ghz.

You shouldn't look at the clock speeds anymore... The 2.0 GHz pwns 1.8 GHz is over... barely relevant these days.

Its been awhile since I've read anything about computer hardware. Whats the greatest processor out, and whats the greatest budget processor? Is AMD still the best, or did Intel take over?
