  Old  Why Wordpress?

Wordpress, i've seen, has been used by thousands of people for blogs, and even websites. Why is Wordpress a common choice? What is so special about Wordpress? What can you do with Wordpress that is unique? Is it easy to make themes for Wordpress? Is it possible to develop a business website in Wordpress? How do you make money off of Wordpress?

Many questions, I know

Thanks in advance.

Wordpress is so widley used because its so versitile(sp?) , you can use it for pretty much any type of site, and its easy to skin. You can make money off it like you make money off any other site, ad's , adsense, ect.

What exactly are you looking for? My site runs off WordPress (see sig) and has an e-commerce plugin that allows me to sell themes, obviously though this could be used to sell anything. WordPress has freely available plugins to do practically anything you want it to do, thats one of the things that make WordPress so great

Correct me if I'm wrong Bazza, but don't they even have a forum plugin, or at least a forum system designed to work along side Wordpress?

Ya they do. It's called BBpress, and it's from the WP team I do believe.

I am very happy with the SMF/WP bridge though.

I've worked with bbPress, it is much easier to code into, but you don't have a lot of features that are wanted.

Wordpress is a open source CMS that is one of the most powerfull CMS's avaliable which has the most geek/tech support on the web without a doubt. Most people use wordpress for blogging, but most big companys use wordpress just as the CMS like it was orginaly designed for..

Thanks
