Actually its related to a link posted in the thread. Like if we were talking about kittens, someone posted a link to a picture of a kitten, but underneath there was a dog, if I made a comment about the dog would that be spam?

I think it would constitute, yes, especially if the dog had absolutely nothing to do with the kitten or the thread in general.

Something else to add: why would you even require the password of a twitter user for the app? You could just sort through search.twitter.com with a query of to:slavingia, and it would have worked just fine?
Anyways, there's a better alternative: replies.twitapps.com

I never used this, but if they login, does the Twitter API provide the user's email?
