I've been wanting to do something with Flash but it seems a bit complicated. So I haven't got around to it yet. Still trying to perfect photoshop.

Yes, using swf object is much better.

Instead of all that code there are just a few lines of code and you can place text or picture on the same place that will be visible if user's javascript is turned off. And, most importantly, code validates

It's pretty straigthforward and easy to implement.
