I agree. You wouldn't buy half a computer for half price would you? I'd say refund him in full, but that's my opinion.

You didn't ask one single question in your original post. Not one...... You told a story, all the facts or not I don't care, and yet again I ask you, what advice are you needing? The ONLY option you have is a charge back through paypal if he is not going to refund your money.

I would have a lot more respect for you if you would just admit that you wanted to call him out.
If you don't like the thread or TFL, go elsewhere. I didn't want to call him out as I had a lot of respect for him. The last thing I want for him is to be slated on here.

We agreed on $300 for the complete Magento skin; then 3 additional phpLD skins for an additional fee.

In the end what he did get was a 50% complete Magento skin & a phpLD skin for $150.
Clearly that's $150 too much.
I knew that this was your first attempt, but if you can't do it, you should hold your hands up and refund the money that I paid you to do it. I didn't pay you half to do half, I wanted a full integration. How come you can do it now but couldn't these weeks ago?

The phpLD has nothing to do with this, I was going to pay you afterwards.

It was $60 for phpLD and $150 for all 3.

I've already found someone else to do the Magento Skinning for the same price on oDesk, thanks for the recommendation though.

I don't and haven't charged $60 for phpLD skinning, ever.

I gave you that rate because you were a repeat client & it was a bulk order.

If you can't complete the job then you should refund him the money. It's not his fault you can't / couldn't finish it, you obviously thought you could at the start. Pretty pointless going through PayPal as they aren't going to refund you.

You're missing the point that he knew of the risk of me not being able to complete it.

You can't hire an apprentice architect and expect the Sistine Chapel.
Nor when you don't get the desired results say:
"I know you've spent alot of time on this, but I don't care. I want all my money back and all the work you've done so far."

Why would you hire someone to do something if you knew they'd never done it before? -_-

My advice? Don't mix friends and business... this is what happens

Either way, Josh and I have come to an agreement now.

So it's all sorted.

i agree, you should have looked about for someone with experience in this area of coding and with examples they could have showed you so you knew exactly what you were paying for.
