  Old  Advice needed.

Hey, needing some advice here.

Basically, I hired a good friend of mine to do me some Magento Integration. We agreed a price and I paid half upfront. I gave him 2 weeks to complete this. After 2 weeks, I gave him another week. After the 3 weeks, the integration is half done and he claims he can't do anything else because he doesn't know how. He refuses to pay the 50% down-payment back, because he's completed 50%(ish) of the work. I didn't hire him to do 50% of the work, so I think he should refund me the money. I've found someone else to start the work from scratch.

In the PayPal dispute, he says and I quote,

Send payment for the final 50%, and the final 50% of the work will be completed.
So now all of a sudden, he can complete the work? Makes me laugh.

I wont name names as I wouldn't want to affect his reputation because he is a genuinely good coder. If he wants to step in then that's fine. Shame because I've been good friends with him for about 3 years.

Let Paypal resolve it.

I doubt paypal will do anything, I lost $xxx to another coder here. He was no where to be seen / heard of, no replies on any emails, so paypal said they wont do anything.

Do you think he is in the wrong though? If so, I'll do something about it.

I think you should do something about it, or have a serious talk with your friend. If I were in your situation, I'd be pretty ****ed off by now .

Hope you can sort this out,

Ezia.

I've had a talk with my friend. He's obviously chosen money over our so called friendship.

First you say in your first post, "if he wants to step in that's fine". And then you say you won't name names.

In your second post....... "You're a scammer, please don't post in my thread."

How long have you used paypal for? I am willing to bet this isn't the first time you have heard about or needed advice on how to do a charge back through paypal.

Yet, you decided to post in a public forum that you needed advice. Advice for what exactly?

Why don't you have some stones and tell all of us that you wanted to let everyone know who this person was that you hired, and NOT that you needed advice.

He stepped in with a low level of maturity. So he can stay out of my thread.

If you read my post, I'm not looking for advice on how to file a chargeback. I'm looking to see what may/may not happen, I'm also looking to who is in the wrong, because others have different opinions.

I suggest you have a good read before jumping to conclusions.

It's a matter of morals really.

Josh hired me knowing that this was my first ever attempt at skinning Magento. He knew the risk of me not being able to complete it.

We agreed on $300 for the complete Magento skin; then 3 additional phpLD skins for an additional fee.

In the end what he did get was a 50% complete Magento skin & a phpLD skin for $150.
Clearly that's $150 too much.

What is immature about what he said? You should do what he said, and not make this a public conversation, no one wants to hear this kind of crap at TFL anymore.

You didn't ask one single question in your original post. Not one...... You told a story, all the facts or not I don't care, and yet again I ask you, what advice are you needing? The ONLY option you have is a charge back through paypal if he is not going to refund your money.

I would have a lot more respect for you if you would just admit that you wanted to call him out.
