  Old  Why handcode?

Now bear with me with this one...assuming you know how to code pefectly well, to all relevent standards and have a sound grasp on the principles, why would you still bother to handcode sites in notepad as opposed to speeding up the process in an edtior like dreamweaver? Does dreamweaver not produce standard complient code?

Maybe because I can't see the point in purchasing Dreamweaver for hundreds of $$ when I can do it myself.

Also I am not sure if Dreamweaver can code compliant tableless css?

I use Dreamweaver 2004 MX, purely becasue it points out my errors and does make coding alot quicker.

Dreamweaver can code complaint tableless css, but again it is all down to the user.

If you have the money for something like Dreamweaver then i would reccomend it to hand coding even if you can code perfectly well without it.

1. Speeds up the process.
2. Much easier to preview your work.
3. Addons are useful.

Sure all the output from a program can be as valid as is possible, but it can't ever more optimal then when you hand code a site. This was actaully from a post in other forum where the user is having trouble centering the site, even using div tags and <center> tags he still can't center the layout. So as you can see the code can present all kinds of problems.

I like hand coding a website. This helps assure that the coding it precise and optimized at it's best ability. I've noticed from my experience with Dreamweaver, as is any other editor, adds un-necessary coding to the documents.

Justin.

I've used dreamweaver before (MX, and MX 2004) - and the code it churns out is pretty bad - even on the XHTML setting.

I prefer to hand code - because it's YOUR code, you know EXACTLY what that bit of code is for and each little bit of that does, and why it's there, so its easier to update.

With DW, etc, you dont know why half the stuff it puts in there, is there.

Even though the code is not stable isn't it faster to fix it up than to do it from scratch?

Because most people in the business don't have the money to. People usually take for granted that they stole all their major software and that some people actually have to pay for it.
