Old  Payment gateway used in UK?

Hi,

Just happend to read a thread (another forum) that Paypal is NOT the most popular choice by the UK-based e-commerce clients. I was amazed...rather shocked.
A client of mine is using Paypal and worldPay, but I would like to know what would be the best option for his site. Does anyone knows of any website which provides statistics in this regards...like:
  • This much users use Paypal in UK
  • This much users use WorldPay in UK
  • This much users use 'another payment system' UK
  • And the list follows for other countries...

Thanks,

Not really that shocking, paypal isn't an industry standard processor. It's good for personal shopping, buying off ebay etc but in terms of e-commerce, sites like amazon and high street stores need a more stable and secure system and one that can accept payment from a range of credit cards.

Usually these are done through banks or custom built from the ground up, world pay is an option as well....lower end of the market though. Could you seriously see a site like amazon using paypal? 1,000's of orders a day...it would be a nightmare. Paypal is also open to ALOT of fraud, takes a large fee as well.

Woah... Theres a worldpay?

Thats like... internationall

but that means theres so many countries

can you imagine that?

like... you can SEND money to another country using a computer

is it just me or have you realized how high tech the world is getting?

like come on... Western Union is one thing but a COMPUTER?

thats like... a whole new ball park

but then again, what ball park?

any ball park?

or possibly a ball park that no man has ever seen?

despite that, any park is great.

anyways, back to the whole Worldpay thing.

imagine that you can actually GET money from your computer

OMFG, paypal should do this.

paypal should sell computers with dollar bills inside them and then the computers also have a small ATM machine in them to withdraw/deposit money!

the CPU would need to be extremely locktight, tighter than a virgins vagina

then only at that, may we be able to see a Paypal computer

what would they call it? The Paypal $4200+ 1.0?

Who knows, despite that, it would be a great invention

cant talk, will chat later, working on a template right now

I wouldnt consider using paypal for an ecommerce site unless a client specifically asked for it.

As well as all the things that Robson stated i think it just looks unprofessional.

Btw, Mr Cheeky, had you been on that sticky icky again before you wrote that post

I think most of the merchants other than European countries prefer paypal or 2co as their first preference. The merchants of European countries generally prefer worldpay might be the reason they are the part of Scotland Bank and providing good service and support to those countries.
