Depends on what you mean by dirtcheap. I work for around $40 an hour for the members here, not bad for sideline stuff.

Glad to hear it, $40 an hour for a freelancer is deffinantly within the correct pricing. If you read the quotes from the pm i had with 'Respected graphic Designer' then you'll see what i meant. I was seeing logos going for $15, websites for only $75 and all sorts of stuff like that, i think i might have died a little inside when i saw people with those prices being serious lol.

It totally depends on the quality of work. Earlier you stated:

Sorry if i sound rude, i apologize completely. But why in every single thread where you offer your services do you do them for absolutely dirt cheap? A logo shouldnt go for anything less than $200 ever, and that's b4 value pricing, and bare minimal design/planning. A website should never sell for under 500, again BARE MINIMUM. By offering your services so cheap, it not only hurts you but it hurts all designers, why pay $7,000 for a logo when this guy over here will do it for $15! Obviously wont be nearly as good, but hey it's $6,985 less, so it might be worth it?!?!?!?! Seriously....
That is a very silly comment to make, in my opinion. To say that a website should never sell bellow $500 is preposterous. It depends on the quality of the design and the coding.

Most sales on Talkfreelance are fairly low, but there are a few websites which sell for a lot of money. We also have some fantastic designers and coders. If you're willing to plash out a little, you'll get more than what you pay for.

Im sorry but, i did one thread where i offered $15 logos for 1 week its called a promotion, you cannot half read one thread, then expect that to be "my pricing". Yes i charge $70 a webpage and $15 for a subpage. this is because i am a full-time student and am doing this as a job on the side.

You made some silly comments about pricing and said i "shamed" the forums. Also it would be great if you looked up the meaning of "Private Messaging".

 You said that if everybody on the forum saw it they would agree with you and i would be very unpopular, I was just testing your theory . So if your a full time student, great man, glad to hear your on your way to getting an education, is this highschool or college out of curiosity? If it takes you 10 hours to design and develope a website, and you charge $70 for it, do you not mind making only $7 per hour for your work?

I've talked to a few of the other people on this board, and i've found that there are quite a few people from third world countries. If you are from a 3rd world country, then i understand completely why you feel your rates are up to par 'yes for a student'. It's actually very high pay compared to their cost of living. Otherwise it just baffles me why you would be willing to work for so cheap, this work is a skill, not everybody possesses it, it isnt something you can go to school for and simply be good at, so why sell it for less than something that anybody could learn and do i guess is my point for you.

What are you majoring in, in school out of curiosity if your in college?

People on the forums work on wide range of prices - but as with life in general, you generally get what you pay for - Although you will find some very good designers and coders who will work for what I would say is a "cheap" price, and could probably charge a lot more.

I think you may actually find a lot of people on these forums, use it to find designers and coders to work as third party for their clients. I think most people on the forums would be happy to do subcontract work - if they get the money coming in I'm sure they are not to concerned where it comes from.

If you took 3 seconds to read my info to the left you would see that i am from the UK. I go to college ( in the USA the last two years of "high school")
i study, modern history, ICT, Media, Business, and CISCO networking. Bottom line is that i would charge more, if i felt my design work was worth more, as it is i do this as a casual thing, and so price what i believe is fair.

get off my back and understand not everyone does this for a living.
