  Old  Getting clients?

What are some ways that you guys get clients?

For me, I try and particpate in as many contests as I can handle. Then hopefully someone that is browsing that contest likes my work and contacts me.

I also design a few sites for my friends free and have my links all over their site and I've gotten clients that way

Another is just putting the link to my portfolio in my signature at different message boards.

Just keep doing what you're doing - If your clients love your work that much they will always come back for more, and tell other people about it - The hardest thing in freelancing is being able to keep at it during the rough and tumble times.

If you have a nice designed site and a good portfolio then just take it from there.

I have to agree with Nightspy, the majority of freelancers spend alot of time on their clients work (which of course is not a bad thing) however, they should spend put just as much time and effort into their own website.

Banners2go was very succesfull and still is, probably because of the market i was targeting for a start (my only real competitor being bannersmall). I did advertise banners2go alot, i spent countless hours posting on a whole range of forums, i purchased 10,000+ impressions on websites and bought listings in directories.

Customers will not come to you.....you have to go and find them With a good product and a good design to advertise it, you really cannot go far wrong!
