Old  Pay for inclusion search engine schemes?

Has anyone ever used any "pay for inclusion" schemes? I know yahoo run a system like this, that will guarantee your website is reviewed within x days. I've always been intrigued by them, they seem like a scam to me!

I was tempted to use one of these at one time. But then I realised its a waste of money and a scam.

Since I don't have so much money (in Romania the wage is 100-200$) imagine I wouldn't be too keen on spending my food money on stuff like that. Not to mention I think I can do what they do. So I just find FREE submission sites and just copy-paste the info about the site in as many as I can. On Webmaster Tips & Tricks,my new "baby" I've indexed some search engines and directories with free listings. I intend to use this and grow that database more.

So .. don't pay if you can do it yourself

I guess it's just a time thing. Yahoo usually doesn't approve your listings for quite a while, however by paying they guarantee to review your submission within a few days.

Firstly, forget all about submitting to SE's, make sure your content is good, check your backlinks use the tools you will find here, they are free and are the best around www.widexl.com. Submit only to Directories. Update your pages at least once a week and the Se's will find you. Visit www.webproworld.com and read all the threads you can before posting. WPW is the 'Bible' for young aspiring webmasters.

Hi guys, I actually work as a SEO and I generally would not recommend using the "pay per inclusion" programs. If your site is properly designed, you get some links pointing to it, have keyword rich content the spiders will discover it. ranking is a whole other ballgame. but no reason to rush things by paying. and PAYING A LOT, when it comes to yahoo.

I paid for Altavista express inclusion thingy a few years back where they guaranteed to index you within 48 hours and to re-index you every 24 hours... This allowed me to re-optimize my pages daily to obtain a good ranking rather than waiting weeks or even months.

Now though I just optimize my pages and wait till they get in.

After 1 month and a half I have the site indexed FREE by Google, MSN, Altavista, Yahoo .. and others. Most visits come from MSN.

So ... guess patience pays off
