I'm creating a site which provides free website templates. But I'm struggling to think of a good domain.

I think that you have to create domain yourself in other way it can be stolen. Also chose right registar. Some current registars used to steal domains during registration.
I recomend NameCheap.com for that.

I second Namecheap.com. I have been using them for a long while. I mean not only the domain registration but the other services as well.

True. I second namecheap.com too. The control panel is user friendly.
