Buying new computer, need some help!
Hi, I saved a few bucks and I'm going to need some help deciding the best components for my new computer.
Here's what I'm thinking of:
mobo: Asus P5N32-E SLI PLUS
cpu: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
video: BFG GeForce 8800GTS
ram: Corsair 4GB DDR2 1066MHz > http://www.price.ro/specificatii_cor..._kit_79546.htm ? I think the frequency is different, so will they work on that motherboard? What other good options do I have for mobo's I need sli and I need about 4GB ram.
hdd: WD or Seagate 320GB
and power supply, will 560W be enough? I'm thinking of buying one of these: Sirtec 560W - http://www.intend.ro/index.php?main_...oducts_id=8562
For the case, I've been thinking of antec's nine hundred ( http://www.intend.ro/index.php?main_...ducts_id=7302), it's pretty good.. you can't find many cases here in Romania, you have few options..
Also, could someone recommend me a good cpu cooler?
Any advice and help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
~ Razvan

Razvan, the reccomended PSU for an 8800 is 600 minimum, so you're cutting it pretty damn close with a 560. I'd go for a 650w. It doesn't help that you're running a quad-core processor, which tend to eat up a fair amount of power.
800mhz ram is still pretty fast - you won't be having trouble with the late 2007/early 2008 games, I'll tell you that.

I think I'll wait for the 8800's to get cheaper.. I'll buy a better psu and more ram.

You dont need a specialised cooler, the one the CPU comes with should suffice for medium overclocking. The Core 2 Duo and Quad Core CPU's run at lot lower temperatures than Pentium 4's, so can be overclocked with next to no special cooling.

Hmm, the P5N is a SLi mobo, not a overclocking mobo. If you wanna overclock get a GA-965p-DS3P or if you want P35 get a GA-P35-DQ6 or a P5K deluxe. The Dominator is great ram, and i would recommend it. IF your running XP, theres no point in getting 4gb because it cant use it haha.
Now for overclocking, Julian is right, the Core 2's don't produce much heat, but if your overclocking a quad it's going to make more heat since it has twice as many Core's so you can't clock it that much. If you want a overclock past the 3ghz mark, got with a E6550 or better

Ok, so I'll stick with the quad and no overclocking. 2GB of Dominator should be ok for Vista or Ubuntu.
I'm thinking of buying the asus striker extreme.. Also, DFI has a mobo on 680i chipset and evga too. Which has better price/perfomance ratio?
I used to be good at tech stuff but I haven't read any magazines and reviews lately.

The Striker is a good board, but i would say the commander is the best 965p board. If you want 680i, go with the evga, that's got some really good reviews. I'm not sure about DFI though. But i don't see why you need SLi if you only have 1 gfx card.
