Old  An Idea to cut down on spam/bump posts

Disable post count in Offers + Requests.

The amount of bumps/spam posts there is unbelievable.

Set vBulletin to display topics by date posted, not by latest reply - idea by Joe. Also would work very well to get rid of the 'bump' posts.

I think that it is just for people to get their products up to the top of the forum, but then again some sad people may do it to increase their post count for whatever reason.

Post count is meaningless. I'm sure they're just doing it to get their items to the top of the page...it's pointless to do it for posts.

It's pointless yes - although I'm 100% sure that there's people doing it

People don't post in Offers + Requests to increase their post count, that happens much more in the Genereal Chat forum.

Whilst on the topic of the Offers + Requests forum, why not cut down the bumping by sorting the forum topics by date of creation, instead of last post? Surely that would render bumping pointless.

I think that would be a good idea too, it works well that way.

I've been trying to delete people's "bump" posts from their threads lately which takes their thread back down to where it should be but unfortunately alot of people bump threads by stating new prices or such and I don't want to delete those posts because I'd be hurting their chances of a sale. So yeah, setting it to sort by date posted would work best in my eyes

Added that to the original thread, so that there's more chance of admins coming across the idea.

Nice idea, make sure the admins read this even though Bazza` has already commented in the idea.
