I agree with Ryan that the design is off-balance; everything is listing to the left.
My biggest quibble is the gradients that are along the left side. Aside from the fact that they unbalance the page, they'll be hard to pull off in CSS if you're centering the page (without tables or loads of extraneous markup, that is).
I also think the header/logo section would probably look better either aligned on the left side or centered with respect to the page.
I'm also not so much a fan of the drop shadow on the main content. If it were uniform all the way around (as if it's lit from where the viewer is sitting) I wouldn't mind it as much, but being lit from the bottom left is totally throwing the page off (particularly considering that your gradients make everything else look like it's lit from the top center of the page).
Speaking of shadows, your stump's shadowing is also off (particularly when compared to the shadows being used in the rest of the page).
I don't mind the excessive white space myself (I tend towards lots of white space in my own designs), but I don't like the tabbed look of the active navigation element. It doesn't make much sense with the gradient/bubble look.
I really like the off-kilter RSS icon, although you'll probably want to have some text with it on the hover (even if it's just in a title tag/tooltip).
Good luck with your design, and remember to take my critiques with a pinch of salt!
