  Old  Pitfalls of Freelancing

As freelancers and job providers what are your biggest issues with the freelance market?

I'll start it up:
Communication: When ever I'm designing for someone I have to send over my file links via email or messengers and then wait for what seems like an eternity to get feed back on it or desired changes.

Fear of getting ripped off: I hate it when I deal with someone online who seems honest, then they end up being shady or shiesters when the bill comes. The predetermined price is now "out of their range" or they offer some sort of profit sharing scheme, and the logo ends up on their site anyways.

Your turn to vent!

Exactly what you said, i hate it when somebody who wants something then they pull out of the deal for some reason etc. That's why recently i only accept at least 50% of the payment upfront or the full amount

Communication is also a problem, for example when you want to show a client a update and they don't come online when you are.

I hate the unreliance of some designers, missing deadlines, not being able to contact them, compliance problems, etc.

Yeah it's a preset rank. Once you get 5-10 posts it'll go away.

I think the biggest pitfall is there's always some random idiot undercutting your pricing by 80%+

I'm going to have to disagree on this one.

I charge what I think my work is worth. Not what Blindchild charges or Anthony charges or anyone who has that caliber of designing skills. I charge what I feel is a good price for my work.
