Freelancing In Brief

What is freelancing?

Freelancing is a word originates form freelancers. Freelancer is a self employed person who is working in a business or profession in which full time employment is common. In other words we can say that freelancer is a person who work for the company without any payroll or commitment with the company for which he is working. The work what he is doing for the company is called freelancing work. This is how we can describe the word freelancing. If you work for somebody without payroll of the company, then you are selling your skill and get paid by that company. Normally freelancers work on project or hourly basis with the company. At the starting period of freelancing, there is a more risk and little income but once you settle down with this, you will have great advantages.

Freelancing From the view point of company:

Now a days many organization prefer to work with freelancers for several reasons such as they find more flexibility with freelancers than regular staff, as there is not any kind of commitment they can be hired at any time when they require and fire when the project gets over, freelancers come up with greater skill, they are ready to prove themselves because they want work and can do better to prove as well, you don’t need to hire full time employees just to finish it up for small and minor things, where as if you hire full time employees then you have to pay them for sick leaves, bonus, holidays which you never need to pay to the freelancers as they are not employee of your company.

Freelancing from the view point of providers:

Now let’s discuss the points why people prefer to work as a freelancer not an employee. If you work as a freelancer, you are your own boss, you don’t need to follow the instruction or rules or regulations of the company. No matter whether you work on hourly or project basis that is for sure you can make more money than you earn in full time job. You can choose your own destination and place to work. You can have your won freedom to work. You can have number of experiences as you deal with different companies in every project.

Risk factors for both the parties:

However freelancing not as easy term as it looks like. Although there is a promising future in freelancing if you have skills then also there are several risks involved with this term for both providers and buyers. It will take a long time to be a successful freelancer and to get the income you want. You will have a challenging patch to go ahead in this filed. Some common things happen with new freelancers like they either don’t get projects or if they get they won’t be paid and get cheated. Freelancers are not suitable for each business units, where clients want to deal with the same employee every time. You have to consider it loopholes while getting into it. There is a not at al security in this field like you can trust on employees as you have some commitments with him but cant with freelancers same way even freelancers cant trust on organization as there is not such kind of deed in between the parties. No security of guaranteed pay and for another work when one project is completed. Since you are running your own business on your own risk you won’t be getting any kind of benefits like sick leaves, PF, holiday pay, bonus etc.

Still if you find freelancing is an attractive tern to you even after knowing its disadvantages you can go for it. But the suggestion is don’t give up your current job or company until you make sure that there a perfect market for your skill and talent. Before starting this kind of work just make a research so that you can do well. The best way to start with freelancing career is to work for part time with any company as an employee and be a freelancer for remaining hours. Now days there is a market of designing, developing, writing for freelancers! You can also go for online freelancing site that provides work and make the buyers and providers together. Such sites are Get Freelancer, Joomlancers, guru and many more. These sites provide security to both the parties where no scope of cheating. You surely get your work done and other hand freelancer get the payment for sure.
