thanks for all the information guys, jordanriane I will check out those links. Same with yours greg2414
And Jamie, I didn't know your were planning to offer VPS, I might as well host the site on my current EH account, then upgrade when it becomes too much.

It's surprising to know you own a web hosting company...
When you reboot, you only virtually reboot, as in, the hardware doesn't actually turn off.... and you can only install custom software on your slice, NOT the actual server

You can request a full reboot, not just a virtual reboot. That's the point!

But since it's a virtual reboot, you don't need to request anything. You can reboot it yourself.

I don't see why you would allow a customer to reboot an actual box with other VPS sitting there.

Christ sake..They don't have the power to do that literally but they have the power to request a full reboot of the server IF needed, bloody hell can we move on? This is rather boring now.

Boring or not, they're simply stating the facts, so that it doesn't mislead other people. Your comment about having control of the "server it sits on" is definitely not true for any VPS host. You have control of the virtual server, and that's it. Your scope does not extend beyond that, unless you already personally have control of the entire server (and it's subsequent virtual accounts.)
Sending in a request for something like a reboot != "control of the server it sits on."

I would recommend Liquid Web, always had good experience with them, no downtime (so far) & fast support

I have a VPS with CompleteVPS.com. They're great. Tell them Neil referred you and the owner, Dan, may ( ), give you a discount.
