  Old  Designers passing fonts

I'm picking up the work from another designer to continue. The first designer uses a font that I don't have. Do you ask the first designer to pass you the font? Or do you go and purchase the font yourself? Isn't font like software in that you are not suppose to share them?

Yes and no... If they are using a shareware/commercial font they cannot supply you with it, you will need to purchase it yourself. However, if they are using a freeware font that states in it's usage policy that it can be shared, then I don't see no reason why your designer can't share it.

^ what he said. Typically, if it's a free font that I downloaded from somewhere, I simply give them the link where I downloaded the font so they can get it themselves. If it's a purchased font, from, say Adobe, I don't send the font and inform them why.
