We tried it before and it didn't work, we might look into it in the future....but it's something I would expect at clantemplates or another "n00bish" graphics forum, I doubt there is much interest here because most members are freelancers who have paid clients, daily jobs and basically lives.

Well agreed...
I am a paid designer, but I still find tim to do things like this because it's fun. Maybe give it another go?

Yeah, I've seen it done at a lot of other designers forums too. Usually, it involves only two people though. You can also have teams, but that'd be a little tougher to manage.
http://www.lowopacity.net/board/viewforum.php?f=6 -- a lot of that kinda thing goes on here, so you can see how it works.

That is because 90% of the designers at CT are new to designing.

I'd be interested in giving this a whirl.....we could do it as our first "official" talkfreelance community event, then we could see how much our template makes on a sale at another forum (such as webhostingtalk?). The profits could be donated towards talkfreelance improvements?

lol, or maybe Robson's pocket!
Or, you can split it between all the designers that took part in it, WHILE taking a % out for TF improvements...

It wouldn't go in my pocket at all, it would go directly back into the community. There would be no point in splitting the money up because it would be so small and paypal transaction fees would make that even more worthless.
If for example just 20 members took part in this, we designed a template and then sold it for $200, every member would get just $10 (after transaction fees about $9.00) is it worth it?
However, that $200 could be put to good use for new features that the community or the members who took part in the contest could vote on him/decide?
