  Old  My iPhone app!

Hey all, thought I would share this here...

I have designed an iPhone app that allows you to use the iPhone as a hard drive. Especially great if you went for the higher GB phones

www.simple-drive.com

Pardon my ignorance.

Doesn't the iPhone already have this functionaility? If so how is it any different? Does it transform the iPhone completely into a remote hard drive?

It seems a good application but your websites copy isn't detailed enough to intrigue me.

No documentation whatsoever. I can't get a clear enough idea of what your product is since you've got no actual copy.

I see some screen shots that give me the indication of wireless sycning and as far as I'm aware, that's not allowed for Apps. I also see a short URL.. What does that feature serve? Allowing to share a specific piece of data by giving them the URL? So I'm guessing this turns the iPhone more into a 'server' rather than a "hard drive" (it.. already is a hard drive. :|) Works on 3G and WIFI or just wifi?

Details.

The thread's title states "MY iPhone app" which kind of implies that.. well, it's HIS app in general. Even if he only designed it that's really no excuse to forget about including copy in the design as well (I'm assuming that he designed the site as well as the app). Obviously I'm not saying he should be doing the copy writing as well but rather designing to incorporate the copy.

Essentially my comment was to show that the design does nothing for the app.

sorry guys I didnt see the replies.

Yes I designed it, a partner built it from my design as a joint effort.

The site is going to be updated as soon as I get the time (very busy atm).

If you see the app on the itunes store there is a more detailed description of what it does and why. I quote:

Use Simple Drive to store files from any computer to your iPhone using the browser!

Common uses - Homework backup, work files backup, productivity purposes.

Simple Drive uses the iphones built in Wi-Fi function to connect to your local Wi-Fi network and becomes a host for our files. Upload and store your work files, homework, pictures, videos and any other documents to your phone directly from your computer browser."

End quote.

It really is as simple as that, its currently sitting in the top 100 utilities apps on the store and climbing!

Doesn't Dropbox already do this more effectively?

You should market it as a way to turn your iPhone into a NAS box, rather than a hard drive.
