Just to play the devils advocate here,

You know, the new ATI series is getting good benchmarks. As of right now, they are slightly below nvidia... but they are a fair bit cheaper as well.

Specifically, the ATI HD3870. Im currently building a new machine and Im buying two of these (crossfire).
