I hate tilting my head 90 degrees clockwise to read something.

Further more, the style of the tabs are out of place, in my humble opinion --- Make them hanging from some horizontal bar or something.

The icons are not that obvious in their functions, so you should probably put some text next to them to say what they do or where they lead to.

The design is pretty simple.

The structure of the layout is coded using HTML tables. Your friend should use CSS.

But, glad you finally get your website up.

I dont think the background image really fits the site. I'd work on the layout of the elements, right now it seems empty in alot of areas and dull because of the grey. The icons seem out of place, more simpler, understandable icons could go in the top left corner, it might fit.

I think the background and the black background for text just ruins it. I love the navigation design though.

I'm not sure maybe it is just me.

But I am on a fat cable connection and parts of the site still took a long time to load, mainly that background image.

I think that background image is to distracting. Try using a soft gradient or a neutral solid color.

cheers

I'm on dial up, so I can fairly compare the speed at which websites load. The website indeed does take a while to load. The background especially.

It's abit to simple for my liking and the black content doesn't fit in. Also I dislike the fact I have to scroll. There is a lot of blank spaces and the background took quite some time to load.

Agreed^.
Although the brown seems to have a sharp jagged edge on the left side.
