the sharpening in the BG looks terrible, and the '2.0-ness' of the content boxes don't mesh with the pattern/grunge of the template. I would also lower the opacity of the BG so that there is more contrast between the content and the BG.

Nothing matches, nothing at all.

You have a retro wallpaper style background, crinkly paper then a new modern style content.

Styles can be mixed and matched and work well but only if you get the blend right, this just looks wrong and thats what will put people off most. When people see a design like this they are going to think you have a lack of design theory, not good for a portfolio site.

Sorry to sound so harsh but if I was you I'd scrap it and start again. If you want to use the old fashioned pattern in the background then you'd be best off sticking to that style rather than trying to mix a style that just isn't going to compliment it.
