You still refuse to tell us how and expect us to believe you? Let me tell you a story.

When by younger brother was in first grade, a classmate (lets call him Bob) convinced him that he went to bed later by setting all the clocks in the house back with a single switch. My brother came home in awe that Bob has this device and could trick his parents with it. Bob didn't have to provide any evidence, his word overruled logical thought.

However, this is not a first grade class, we don't believe everything we hear. If someone comes and tells us that there is a way to legally get expensive server software for free but refuses to tell us how, we don't become amazed and convinced. Please provide proof for your claims or your credibility is on par with little Bob's tale of the clocks.

It doesn't matter if the host doesn't charge for hosting, it's still a commercial environment and it means they require different licensing and specific distributions of the OS.

Regardless, how do you get a free copy of Windows? We're eager to find out. Are you referring to Microsoft giving students free copies?

Microsoft does not give students free copies of anything (I am currently in college). We get cheap copies that are not licensed for professional use. To use a student copy for professional use would be illegal.

Actually, they do. It's a new scheme announced in February this year. It's called "Microsoft Dreamspark" and you can get more info here: https://downloads.channel8.msdn.com/

But as you correctly state, these distributions would not be server distributions so could not be used commercially or professionally in a hosting environment. That would indeed be a breach of the licensing agreement and illegal.

The 'best' one there is Windows Server 2003 standard, which is a fairly crippled distribution anyway.

1) there are plenty of free hosts who don't charge, and don't force adds, thus no money being exchanged, and it not being a commercial site.

1. Forget the concept of ANY money changing "hands", that's irrelevant. Web hosting is a commercial industry. It doesn't matter if it's given away with or without adverts, it's still a commercial industry. As a result of it being commercial and in no way associated with any educational sources, which can often obtain software free one way or another, it requires a specific paid license. There is no way to get this for free.

2. As already stated, these are for individual development use and cannot be used for commercial hosting purposes (yes, even if it's free hosting). The most you could do with these licenses is to setup a server locally and build, develop and test your own applications. You are still then required to purchase Windows hosting with a company that has obtained and paid for the correct legal licensing.
