  Old  Power Problems

Hello all,

I have a 2003 Toshiba Satellite, which I'm throwing out soon (like 2-3 weeks) to get a new computer. Unfortunately, I have exams and my computer has 30% power and for some unknown reason, my computer isn't charging (I have it plugged). I checked all the connections on the plugs, restarted, and nothing is working. Is there a way to fix this, or am I completely screwed? Thanks in advance,

Zack

From my experience with laptops, the battery ususally becomes less able to hold a charge as the laptops age progresses. My old laptop had that problem. It was a few years old and the battery got so bad to where it could only hold a charge for 5 minutes. Only thing would be to replace the battery which would be pointless because your not even going to keep the laptop that long.

I'm back, basically I have no idea what happened, I was on until 1%, it restarted, and started to charge normally :S. I am getting a new computer soon, and this laptop's battery costs 200 dollars, so I'm not going to get one.

Maybe you accidently activated one of those battery refresh settings. It cuts out AC power and runs the battery down until it is diminished and then charges from AC power again.

Hmm yea maybe your DC board is screwed or the charger is screwed. Maybe try looking for a battery firmware (yes theres such a thing )
