Only problem when upgrading a name brand computer is that when you change out the processor the motherboard has to compatable which is hard to find when your using name brand computers once they put weird things inside so the best bet for your money is to build all your own computer pick up a barebone kit and start from there.

yup same question as me.
Could i go to a big pc store (not mentioning names)
ask a technition there, tell him what i want to do, give him the main spec parts i want in it, him helping me out writing down the parts and so on and taking in the guidence. Going home ordering parts online and so on.

if you hesitant about how hard it will be... dont be
its so easy, anyone could do it
i built my first pc when i was ~10
all you have to do is screw in the motherboard, everything else just plugs right in, and a bit more screws to hold in the gfx card, harddrive, cd, ect...

I was really worried about breaking parts and stuff like that if I built it myself, but it's really easy, but you do need to be quite forceful to get certain parts in.

I build mine for about 1400 Singapore Dollars (around 900 US Dollars). Running on Intel Dual Core processor, Asus EN7600GT PCI-E Graphic Card, Asus P5L-VM Motherboard, 1GB RAM, a BenQ DVD writer and a 19" Acer Widescreen.
