Old  I am buying my pc.

Ok ive been wanting to upgrade from my current pc, its pretty old, medium ram and low disk space. Its windows xp one of the first one.

I was looking into buying a new one and a i found a great company in uk selling custom made pcs.

I was looking at one with 1.2gb/2gb ram and it was i think 200+gb hard disk. And a good graphics card. 17 or 19 flat screen mouse and keyboard. I don’t understand much about the processor and its speed. What would be a good processor and what is a good (1.80GHz, 800MHz, 2MB) size not familiar with the numbers. I will need a pretty fast pc for design and running a lot of software.

Well if you want a fast processor you don't want a 1.8GHz, you'll want to look at either the 2.0 dual cores, or the 3-3.4 single cores.

But you'll have to choose first, AMD or Intel?
Many differences, many pros and cons.

I nearly always buy the parts and build them myself. The reasons for this are:

A) You get complete control over the components used.
B) You actually learn something.
C) You have a lot of fun!

I know building a PC isn't for everyone but if you do your research and take your time it can be a very rewarding experience.

I usually always go with AMD processors. Not knocking Intel just prefer AMD. Regardless of how you buy your PC, in bits or ready made, i'd go with a Dual Core processor.

I'd still go with an AMD Dual Core.

AMD dual core is not as good as the intel core 2 duo. The basic core duo 2 processor is damm good for the money. A ASRock Conroe 945g-dvi is a good motherboard, and top it off with Corsair Twin 2x 1024mb 6400 ram. For the Screen id go for the Samsung 931c monitor. A Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320gb HD would be good as well. LOL i got this out of a magazine, so dont ask me why i know soo much.

amd are dropping their prices so much u can get a dual core from them for $95 bucks now. AMD and Intel are nto comparible in my opion. They are both designed very different in their cores. Intel have longer rods which are better for ps and video editing and then amd has shorter rods which is better for gaming.
