Godaddy hands down. I've always used them. People say they overload the customer, sure maybe they do but if you read the page there are quick checkouts and it's easy to complete and it is reliable.

I use Misk.com (formerly registersite.com) for my domain name needs. $10 is easy to remember, plus I haven't had a problem with them in the three years I've used them.

Moniker is my favorite registrar. I find the interface very easy to use and having Paypal as a payment option is always a plus. I'm paying a discounted rate of $6.85 per .com registration/renewal/transfer.

I'm a fan of NameCheap, but after hearing your problems I might use godaddy more often.

I use NameCheap for most of my domains and never had a problem with them in the 3 years (just passed the anniversary a while ago) that I've been a customer there. That said, because I've never had a problem I've also never had to deal with their support team so can't comment on that.

I've tried several over the years and GoDaddy are the best IMO.
