I disagree with your first point. Just because Google is a big company, doesn't mean that they would be reliable. Most likely they would, but I wouldn't be so quick to make that assumption. As for your second point, I am POSTIVE that they would make a fortune off of webhosting

I think Google would murder the majority of web hosts out there if this happened/will happen.

I don't need hosting right now so I wouldn't go with them, If they did do hosting I may though.

I think google has the power on the net to do just about anything now, they could come up with an entire new control panel system and new features for hosting that could easily beat cpanel or some of the biggest webhosters.

Heck, in a few years time google could be selling cars or holiday trips!

Google can do what they want in the eworld. Thats a feeling I don't like to much. Robson I am sure you wouldn't like it if google launched a freelance site just like this

Agreed, they can do anything in the eworld and soon enough they could choose to move into the real world and do anything they wanted (well anything that's legal) Google have the resources, ideas and skill it takes to take over about any type of business / service or w/e they want on the internet in my opinion. Which is scary.

I'm not too bothered, you don't need to be google to launch a freelance site like this, infact there are other freelance forums like this. The fact is, google or not, tf is about the community and not the amount of investment and jazzy features.

If google offered webhosting, I wouldn't take it, I'm happy with my provider at this time. Plus, I believe support wouldn't be good at all, since if you had millions of clients, you would need tens of thousands support employed people & it still wouldn't work as it should. Plus, they would kill so many webhosts out there which just wouldn't be right, many people would lose their jobs, income...

many people would lose their jobs but as you say they'd need tens of thousands of employees, imagine how many jobs they'd create and especially how much they'd get paid.
