Old  Need Some Help Trouble Shooting

Start things off, this is my setup:
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
  • ASUS P5N32-E SLI 680i
  • PNY XLR8 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel
  • EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB
  • Thermaltake Toughpower 750W Power Supply
  • Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
  • Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
Ok. I assembled everything, and I'm 99.99% sure everything is connected correctly. When I go to turn it on, it sounds like the harddrive boots up (but I'm not sure, never heard a raptor before) but nothing happens. The monitor says its getting no signal, and my mouse doesn't light up. Yet all of the fans are working, the green light on the motherboard is on, and my optical drive works. I'm completely fed up with trying to figure it out, so maybe one of you guys know? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Regards,
James

Is your graphics card clipped in and everything properly, or does it have an onboard graphics card?

Graphics card is in all the way, but I'll double check. No its not onboard, its the EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB version.

Hmm, it appears that it wasn't in all they way. When I went to put in the screw for the bracket, it lifted it up in the rear. Well for now I took it out, and its still having the same problems:

No signal for the monitor, no keyboard lights, no mouse lights. Yet all of the fans are spinning, and everything appears to be working.

Make sure your BIOS configurations are correct (voltages, FSB, your boot order, etc.), because I've had that happen and I change something in the BIOS which fixed it. I can't remember what I did.

I can't even get into the BIOS. Bascially I have a brand new computer that does nothing.

Ok just phoned technical support. What I'm going to do is take out everything, and set the motherboard on a phone book. So basically take everything out of the case and ground it, and see what happens. We troubleshooted everything, and the problem is most likely the motherboard. This sucks that I have to return it, but whatever...

Hey,

Do you have any lights on your case? Like the power light, CD-ROM light, floppy, card reader, etc?

If so, and they are solid green, it looks like your mother board is not posting. (Not making this up)

You can try the following

Turn off your computer (unplug from power)

Open up your case and take out any PCI-Cards, RAM, and your atomic clock on your motherboard. Leave these out for around 2 minutes. You should see the green light on your motherboard go dark.

Put back the atomic clock and RAM (leaving out the PCI-Card, unless your graphics card is not built into the motherboard, then put back in the PCI-Card).

Try again.

If that doesn't work, then it looks like your motherboard is not posting. IE, you are going to have to replace it.

Hope that helps,
Adam

Yup, looks like it was dead on arrival. I hope Newegg will exchange it for a new one.
