Thanks so much for the comments guys, you all seem to love the WD drives! You've confirmed my choice that the one linked to in the first post is the one I'll be getting (the 500Gb).

I didn't say this in my first post, but I don't have a 'desktop' machine. My work computer is a Dell laptop and I have a macbook pro also. I decided against buying bigger internal drives because I want to be able to swap the drive easily between the two computers.

Cheers for all of your input!

Western Digital are a nightmare for me, every WD hard-drive I've had (albeit all internal ones) have died on me within 6months. SeaGate all the way for me, although seeing that so many people here have good experiences with WD I guess that was just me being unlucky that killed them all off, typical

So, do any of you have external hard drives? Any favourites or suggestions? I'd be using the drive pretty much all the time, swapping it between my mac and my 'work' laptop if that makes a difference to choice.

Btw, I've got my eye on this one.

Cheers,

Well if you really think your going to use up 500gb then thats a great choice. I have the same type except mine is like 250 and i only have used up like 8 gigs. Only reason i would go for 500gb would be for my movies or if your like a pack rat!

Nice I have never even heard of the 2 tb. I wouldn't be able to fill a 500 though.

We have a security camera on our house, because someone stole our boat and truck. We got it back, and installed the security camera. Since it uses .avi's it uses A LOT of space, we have a 2 year backup

Good for you guys! I can't stand people who think they can get things the easy way- by just stealing. I had a Zune for a few days (It was brand new) and someone stole it from me at school. Its not anything too expensive it just ****es me off because anyone that goes there can afford a damn Zune...
