You can have a larger load with 8 CPUs, as opposed to have one or just two CPUs.

1.90 is perfectly fine; One of my servers is just 4 CPUs and manages around 2.30-60 just fine (with 4GB ram.)

Ah okay, good stuff. It was in the 3-4 area for a short while last night, before restarting mysql.

Right now it's at...

cpsrvd up
Server Load 0.01 (8 cpus)
Memory Used 12.9 %
Swap Used 0 %
Disk /dev/vzfs (/) 80 %
It's been <0.10 for the last 10 or so refreshes.

Edit: 10 mins later

cpsrvd up
Server Load 0.91 (8 cpus)
Memory Used 12.4 %
Swap Used 0 %
Disk /dev/vzfs (/) 80 %
No!!! hehe

A jump in load usually indicates that the server is performing backups (but not always). For 8cpu I'd say that as long as it's under 8 you are fine, it could vary depending on their actual hardware. If they're running a good hardware raid solution 10~12 might even be acceptable but the loads you have seen are quite normal and I'd say even semi-low.
