Shared SSL will be something without your domain name. As an example it's generally servername.somedomain.com such as atlas.mddhosting.com.

Where as regular SSL will be something of your choosing, either www.yourdomain.com or secure.yourdomain.com or somethingofyourchoosing.yourdomain.com or even just yourdomain.com (no www.)

You can get a RapidSSL for around $12~14/year which is not bad from NameCheap.com.

Also cheap SSL certificate for you could be found at ************.com - about $14/year will save you from security troubles.

*******.com offers low cost SSL certificate, it costs if I'm not mistaken at $19.95/yr. The company is reputable and dependable. And I think it's a fair price.
Just remember you get what you pay for.

There is wide selection of SSL and other protection products offered by glowhost.com - this company is one of the stable and reputable ones and they are using one of the offered products themselves.

You know innohosting.com offers free RapidSSL in their shared package plans. Think you may use their low cost services and get SSL certificate for free.

Again not sure about the best, but can recommend a place (host) which provides them and other hacker-safe utilities for reasonable price or even free (together with the hosting account). Take a look at glowhost.com ssl page. There are some good solutions of security.

If your confused about SSL then visit my blog about which SSL is best for your needs and what the difference between each type is.

Incidentally we sell RapidSSL certificates for only $12.60 USD or £8.68 GBP per year.

I am a fan of GeoTrust SSLs. They are really cheap and easy to install. I believe theplanet.com is a GeoTrust reseller. You should check it out
