Building your own PC has got to be the way to go..
1. You decide what goes in there so there's no rubbish in there and it is not unbalanced i.e. great processor with crap graphics card (if your into gaming) etc..
2. I'v always found building your own PC to be cheaper

I just put my computer together last week, its nice to build it ur own. Also this is my first time to do it and it was pretty simple. The best thing is that u select what to put in it, and specially selecting the case!

My first pc was purchased, but it was really old so I took it apart and decided to build my own. I have built 3 systems since then and must say that I really like the home made one more than the ones on the market.

buy pre-made and upgrade, thats what i do. I did it with my alienware, and my laptop, and everything else i use.

The only thing about already built ones is that they put a lot of junk software on them. I would just reformat it you buy one.

Agreed I always dread formatting my sony, i have to spend like an hour uninstalling all the stuff that comes with it like trials, office suits i dont need and especially works, i currently use microsoft office enterprise 2007, my sony came equiped with a trial and buy ms office which was the same size as the full ms office, and then works, turns out to be a nightmare.
